Tales From The Wheelbarrow
New work in development
Meet Olive, a park-keeper on a mission to tackle litter, and Teaspoon, an anarchic bird puppet made entirely from discarded materials. Their story unfolds in and around a life-sized wheelbarrow, where everyday objects become creatures, tools, and curious new forms.
As Olive tidies the park, she has surprising encounters with wildlife and curious visitors. Handmade puppets, clever contraptions, and found objects transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, inviting audiences to look closer and notice the hidden stories around them.
A playful, planet-loving adventure for family audiences, designed for galleries, festivals, and intimate performance settings.
Performed by Michelle Reader and musician–puppeteer Steno Vitale.
Wading and Wandering
New work in development
Follow a family of spoonbills as they wander along the tideline in this playful, interactive performance for under-fives. Made from litter pickers, spoons, and plastic bottles, the birds forage, wade, and explore a shifting landscape of found objects and washed-up treasures.
Through puppetry, movement, making, and song, young audiences are invited to discover how materials travel through water and to meet some of the curious birds that inhabit our coastlines. The performance gently explores care, curiosity, and the small actions that can make a difference.
Ideal for nurseries, family festivals, and intimate studio spaces.
Co-created and performed by Michelle Reader and Miriam Keye, with story-building support from writer Leanne Moden. Developed with support from the Mansfield Cultural Services Associate Artist Programme.
