Tales from the Wheelbarrow comes to Wollaton Library as part of Nottingham Puppet Festival.
Meet Olive, a park-keeper on a mission to tackle litter, and Teaspoon, an anarchic bird puppet made entirely from discarded materials. Their story unfolds in and around a life-sized wheelbarrow, where everyday objects become creatures, tools, and curious new forms.
After the show there will be time to meet the puppets and performers, explore the wheelbarrow world and invent your own characters and stories using recycled materials.

We will be performing Tales from the Wheelbarrow in the Tudor Hall, from midday.
Meet Olive, the puppet park-keeper on a mission to tackle litter, and Teaspoon, an anarchic bird made entirely from discarded materials. Their story unfolds on and around a life-sized wheelbarrow, where everyday objects become creatures, and tools take on curious new forms. As Olive attempts to tidy the park, she has unexpected encounters with wildlife and curious visitors. A playful adventure for family audiences, with live music and puppetry, from Michelle Reader and Steno Vitale.
Drop-in family puppet workshop
Meet Olive the park keeper and Teaspoon the bird, the puppet characters from 'Tales from the Wheelbarrow'. Join Michelle Reader of Wayward Objects Theatre to discover Olive's wheelbarrow world and invent your own stories and characters using recycled materials. Drop in any time between 10:30 and 12:30.
Green Hustle festival
Green Hustle is back, bringing thousands of people together in Nottingham’s Old Market Square on Saturday, 30 May, for a day of free summer fun. Under this year’s theme, Growing Together, the festival celebrates everything that connects us—from nature and food to music and shared creativity. Meet Olive the park-keeper and Teaspoon the bird, and join their creator Michelle Reader to help craft weird and wonderful plants from recycled objects. It’s all about being resourceful, creative and looking after our green spaces.
Tales from the Wheelbarrow
Tales from the Wheelbarrow will be performed in the Portland Collection Gallery at 11am, 12:30 and 2pm.
The performances are part of an exhibition launch day for the new exhibition of the work of Serena Korda.

Makers in the Museum
Michelle Reader will in the Harley museum as part of Makers in the Museum, which is an opportunity on selected Fridays and Saturdays to see the Harley Studio artists at work
Drop in between 11am and 3pm to meet the puppets from Wayward Objects’ shows and see what Michelle is working on.

Wading and Wandering
An early years show for under-fives featuring spoonbill puppets, movement, making and song.
Shows at 11am and 1:30, approximately one hour including time to meet the puppets, explore the set and make paper sea creatures at the end.

Green Power, Red Flags
An exhibition created by Green Power featuring their own work and that created by other artists working with the group. The exhibition includes the Green Woman giant puppet Michelle created in workshops with the group, as well as Olive the gardener puppet from our production ‘Tales from the Wheelbarrow’ and a film Michelle made with Olive and Green Power participants in Carr Bank Park.
