Who we are
Wayward Objects is the trading name of Michelle Reader, sole trader. Michelle Reader is the data controller for personal data collected through this website, www.waywardobjects.co.uk. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what your rights are under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
What we collect
Enquiries. When you use our contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address and anything you choose to tell us, such as which show you’re interested in, dates, your venue and audience.
Bookings. If you book a performance or workshop, we keep the details needed to arrange and invoice it, such as your organisation, contact details and venue address.
Website use. Our website platform, Squarespace, collects information about your device, browser, IP address and the pages you visit. Analytics cookies are only used if you accept them through our cookie banner.
We do not ask for or collect special category data, such as health information, through this website.
How we use it
To reply to your enquiry and arrange bookings (our legitimate interest in running our business, or steps towards a contract you’ve asked for)
To deliver and invoice performances and workshops (performance of a contract)
To keep financial records required by law (legal obligation)
To understand how our website is used (your consent, through the cookie banner)
We do not send marketing emails from this website, and we never sell or share your information for others’ marketing.
Where your information is stored
Contact form submissions are stored by Squarespace and sent to our Gmail inbox, provided by Google. We do not keep them anywhere else. Squarespace and Google are based in the United States and may store data there. Both rely on approved safeguards for international transfers, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See the Squarespace and Google privacy policies for details.
This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts, which may receive your IP address and browser information so the site displays correctly.
Photographs
We photograph and film some performances and workshops, and may use these images on our website, on social media and in funding applications. We only publish photos of identifiable children with permission from a parent or carer. If you would like a photo of yourself or your child removed, please email us and we will remove it.
How long we keep it
We keep contact details for as long as we have an ongoing working relationship, or a reasonable expectation of working together. We review old enquiries regularly and delete those we no longer need. Booking and invoicing records are kept for as long as required for tax purposes, usually at least five years.
Your rights
You have the right to:
ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
ask us to correct or delete it
object to or restrict how we use it
withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it
To make a request, email info@waywardobjects.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it.
Cookies
Squarespace uses essential cookies to run this website securely. Analytics and performance cookies are only set if you accept them through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. For more detail, see Squarespace’s information on the cookies it uses.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as venues, festivals and partners. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
